Women's Library : Study Day - When Fiction Meets History
- Date: Saturday 17 November 2007
- Times: 11am – 4pm
- Tickets: £30/£18 concessions, including refreshments and lunch
- Lower Ground Floor Lecture Theatre, 16 Goulston Street, London E1 7TP (nearest tube Aldgate East)
Many contemporary writers interweave historical knowledge with narrative, whether in biographies, memoirs, historical fiction or fictionalised histories.
This day of talks and discussions will look at the various ways in which authors negotiate between historical fact and fiction, and will question how we can claim to ‘know’ the past.
Featuring a keynote talk by Rose Tremain, author of Music and Silence and Restoration and panel discussions with Tahmima Anam, Leonore Davidoff, Patricia Dunker, Jane Dunn, Judith Flanders, Marilyn Heward Mills, Delia Jarrett-Macauley and Sunny Singh.
