Women's Resource Centre : ICT Training for Women

The courses we offer are:

Managing ICT and Developing a Strategy - 6 September, 10am-4.30pm
An ICT strategy is the backbone to how an organisation plans its use of ICT. This course will give you the tools to understand the fundamental ways you can manage the ICT in your organisation and procedures that should set you on the road to more efficient work practices. An ICT strategy should also help you identify where you need to fundraise. Be proactive, not reactive!
ICT Networking - 20 September, 10am-4.30pm
This workshop looks at the processes involved in choosing a computer network. Throughout the day we will explore why you need a network; different types of networks; how to go about getting one and the expected costs and finally the associated and often forgotten tasks that are part of managing your network.
Choosing a Database - 11 October, 10am-4.30pm
A database can be a massive investment so making sure you've chosen the right one for your organisation requires time and patience! This workshop will help you identify your core needs, work out who you need to involve in the decision making process and help you budget for the whole process. You'll also get a chance to play with some databases to test them out for yourself.
Getting a website - 26 October, 10am-4.30pm
This workshop demystifies the process behind getting a website: registering a domain name; designing your own or finding a designer; content management systems; and just what do you need to put on your website? If you are thinking of getting a website and wondering how to go about it or what the costs are, this is the course for you. The course will also cover accessibility issues.
Making the Best Use of Free ICT Support - 7 November, 1.30pm-4.30pm
Facilitated by IT4 Communities, this workshop will help you work with ICT volunteers. Volunteers can be a great way to gain expert help and advice on your ICT needs and projects. This workshop will help you identify where a volunteer might be useful, how to develop projects around volunteers and how to manage them.
