Woman's Trust : Counselling Skills for Front Line Professionals

This two-day CSCT counselling skills course aims to increase the confidence and ability of front line workers to communicate effectively and appropriately with clients.
Participants will gain practical experience using counselling skills and an opportunity to reflect and build on their current communication skills.
The course will cover:
- listening and communication skills (including non-verbal communication);
- the difference between providing counselling and using counselling skills;
- the importance of establishing appropriate boundaries;
- asking appropriate and helpful questions;
- identifying and overcoming barriers to good communication; the impact of self-awareness in communication (including the Johari window);
- client centred principles (the Core Conditions for client work);
- ethical interaction with clients and conflict resolution.
No previous experience required. Participants will receive a certificate.
