Welcome to WISEWORDS presenting a programme of wonderful women writers celebrating International Women's Week with a diverse line-up of novelists, poets, playwrights, journalists, comics and musicians from Africa, America, Bangladesh, Britain and East London.

South African author discusses her re-launched novel 'A Shield of Coolest Air' (Longstone Books) set among Somali refugees in London. FREE

Nina Rapi, Cherry Smyth, Alev Adil, Caroline Smith and Jennifer Farmer invite you to celebrate their exciting new literary magazine that specialises in the short form & international voices. FREE

African American writer arrives from the USA to discuss her memoir 'A Piece of Cake' (Transworld Publishers). Tea & cupcakes will be served. FREE

COMEDY NIGHT Fri 7 March: 8.30pm
with NINIA BENJAMIN, NINA CONTI, JO ENRIGHT, SHAPPI KHORSANDI & SHAZIA MIRZA + CHi2. A fantastic line-up of some of the best female comics in the country celebrating comedy writing at its most crucial, and a couple of exploding Chinese violinists. £10/£8 concs
MUSIC NIGHT Sat 8 March: 8.30pm
with SARAH JANE MORRIS + La Rouge. A very special concert to celebrate International Women's Day given by the sensual singer-songwriter Sarah Jane Morris who straddles rock, blues, jazz & soul with a goose-bump raising four octave range that rumbles from the toes of her size nine shoes to the tips of her flame-red mane. Plus special short set from La Rouge, a very young all-girl rock group from East London. £10/£8 concs
BISHWO SHAHITTO KENDRO Sun 9 March: 6.30pm
(BSK) - The World Literature Centre - with four Bangladeshi women writers Tamima Anam whose first novel 'A Golden Age' (John Murray) was published in 2007 to great acclaim, Shamim Azad poet & story teller, Leesa Gazi performer, producer, director, and Khadija Rahmam artist & writer. FREE
