For children the distinction between care and education has little meaning. So says the Government's ten year childcare strategy. As we move towards greater integration of services and with important new legislation about to go through Parliament, we face an unprecedented opportunity to end the care/education divide once and for all.
This year's conference will debate the benefits and challenges of bringing education and care together to provide high quality services for children and families. It will provide a timely opportunity to reflect on the challenges ahead and learn from others both at home and abroad. There will be sessions on leadership and the development of the workforce and on the roles of schools and local authorities, with best practice examples to provide ideas and inspiration.
Daycare Trust is delighted that this year's conference will be addressed by leading figures from the world of childcare, including Beverley Hughes MP, Minister of State for Children, Young People and Families, Estelle Morris from the Children's Workforce Development Council, Jytte Juul Jensen, expert on pedagogy from Denmark, Pen Green's Margy Whalley and Naomi Eisenstadt, Director of Sure Start. There will also be plenty of opportunity to take part in the debate. The conference will be chaired by the BBC's Reeta Chakrabarti. Daycare Trust looks forward to welcoming you to our Annual Conference 2005.
