Daycare Trust : National childcare week 2008 - Building brighter futures

Daycare Trust’s National childcare week, now in its 11th year, aims to promote the importance of investing in childcare, out-of-school activities and early years' provision for children to strengthen and contribute to children’s play and learning.

Quality, affordable childcare can build brighter futures for everyone. It gives children a good start in life. It enables parents to work or train and it contributes to a prosperous society by supporting employers and regenerating local communities. It also underpins policies to tackle social exclusion, create jobs and raise educational standards. This year Daycare Trust will be inviting everyone to join us in celebrating National Childcare Week, which will be held from 2–9 June 2008.

We very much hope that you will join in with one of the events or activities that are being planned. Alternatively, why not organise your own event to mark National childcare week and help us to make it bigger and brighter than ever?

For further information, please download our National Childcare Week 2008 flyer from our web site.

    Your events and activities

We are encouraging childcare organisations, providers and settings around the country to get involved in this year's National childcare week by holding your own local celebrations and events. 2008 is the National Year of Reading and we are encouraging everyone to join us in the fun.

By holding events in your childcare setting, your visitors will be able to witness how the care being provided is bringing positive outcomes to children. Parents can come and celebrate the benefits that the childcare has on their child as well as themselves, their career and personal development.

If you are a childcare provider or childminder register for National childcare week to receive a free pack which includes useful tips on how to run an event and promotional National childcare week materials. Once you have registered we will keep you updated on National childcare week activities.

To register, please email your name, the name and address of the childcare setting, a contact telephone number and email address to nationalchildcareweek@daycaretrust.org.uk

Details of local events being held during National childcare week will be available on our website where you can check to see if an event is being held in your area.

To receive further details about National childcare week email nationalchildcareweek@daycaretrust.org.uk or call 020 7840 3350 and ask to speak to the Events Officer.
