Eaves : Rape, the Media and the Criminal Justice System Conference

The Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, is hosting a joint conference with Eaves (the Lilith Project) to explore the distorted media reporting of rape and the possible links to diminishing conviction rates.
This free conference will offer delegates the opportunity to explore what has proven effective in the struggle against rape and discuss how the media can work in partnership with voluntary agencies, the police and the criminal justice system to confront this serious problem.
Speakers include:
- Alice Vachss, former Chief of the Special Victims Bureau of a New York District Attorney's Office and author of Sex Crimes (Random House, 1993), a New York Times Notable Book of the Year
- Dr Vanessa E Munro of Kings College London author of the landmark 2006 research Breaking Boundaries? Sexual Consent in the Jury Room 2006
- Kira Cochrane, Women's Editor, The Guardian
- Harriet Wistrich, human rights solicitor
- Julie Bindel, Guardian columnist
- A representatives from the London Criminal Justice system
