Eaves Lilith Project : Just Representation? How the press portrays rape
An afternoon seminar

  • Tuesday 19th February 2008, 2-3.30pm
  • At the YWCA Central Club, 44 Portland Place, London W1B 1NE

Following our conference last June, Rape, the Media and the Criminal Justice System, in partnership with the Greater London Authority, the Lilith Project invites you to attend the launch of Just Representation? How the press portrays rape, a research report on the portrayal of sexual violence against women and girls in the press.

The launch seminar is organised in partnership with the YWCA Central Club.

The aim of the seminar is to present and discuss the key findings and recommendations of the report. The seminar will offer participants the chance to:

  • Learn about up-to-date research on media representations of sexual violence against women and girls
  • To debate strategies for tackling the circulation of rape myths in the mainstream media

The event will be of interest to people working in journalism and the women’s sector and frontline service providers, policy-makers and activists working with and for women who have experienced sexual violence, as well as professionals involved in policing and prosecuting sexual violence.

To register for the launch seminar or request a copy of the report, please contact Sarah Edwards, Research & Good Practice Officer at The Lilith Project by email or phone 020 7840 7952
