London Feminism Meetup Group : What is activism?

What is activism? What does it involve and how can we use our ideas and skills to rally and maximise our assets to challenge sexism and the underlying attitudes towards women that limit us?

We have all been subjected to the social control and ideas control of our culture, the education system and the media and to be able to develop and retain our own critical faculties and self confidence we need to keep our wits sharp by interacting with others with similar aims.

We also need to support each other in facing the macho world in which we live. How do we do this while keeping true to our own views and priorities?

This is a secular feminist group for anyone interested in discussing the current issues of importance to women activists - where the attitudes to women come from, and the campaigns against violence and abuse of women - politics, equal representation, pay, pensions and work; our role in the family & society.
