Object : Parliament, Protest and Women's Hour
Tuesday 27th June 2006
Westminster Demo from 2-5pm
Object will be demonstrating with banners, placards and giant boxes of 'Porn flakes' opposite Houses of Parliament (East Footway in Parliament Square)
- Any (peaceful!) demonstrators welcome
- Please pass this on to your friends, networks and anyone else you think might be interested
Parliament Debates approximately 2.30pm
Ten Minute Rule Bill - Claire Curtis-Thomas, MP
- Claire Curtis-Thomas, MP, will be debating the poor regulation of material
such as The Sport and lads mags in parliament.
- Her Bill seeks:
* A new regulator for sexually explicit material
* That is independent, gender aware and socially responsible
* With binding and transparent codes
- She is also calling for a new Commission or similar body to examine the media's portrayal of women more widely
- She is seeking a vote on this in Parliament.
- A Vote is the First Step In Seeing The Measures She Proposes Becoming Law
- It should be possible for the public to actually hear the Speech in the
Public Gallery

Object will be discussing the issue on BBC Radio's Woman Hour
- The programme will also feature Karl - an Objector
- Karl successfully challenged the presence of the Sport in his all-male workplace
