Object POP – Women’s Sector Forum on Objectification in Popular Culture

  • 13th March 2008 from 1.30 – 3.30pm
  • WRC, Ground Floor East, 33-41, Dallington Street, London EC1V

    • Launch of POP -­ a forum on how the women's movement can publicly and politically challenge objectification in popular culture in a concerted and co-ordinated fashion. The forum has secured seed funding and we would greatly involvement from interested organisations to help shape its aims and progression.

    The launch meeting will include a presentation of independent research carried out of organisations addressing violence against women. This will highlight:

  • The effects of the normalising of the sex industry in relation to violence against women
  • Barriers faced by women's organisations in raising these issues
  • Ways in which organisations have started to overcome these barriers and suggestions for further action
