Sylvia Pankhurst Memorial Committee : Celebrating Sylvia Pankhurst - Crusader, Artist & Suffragette

Prof. Germaine Greer will join a panel of speakers on 8 July to celebrate the life and achievements of Sylvia Pankhurst (1882-1960). The event will be part of a festival in Sylvia Pankhurst's honour to include a biographical play and an exhibition, revealing some lesser-known aspects of her life and work.
The festival will take place in Woodford, Essex - Sylvia's home for some 34 years - and marks the 80th year of her son Dr Richard Pankhurst, OBE. Dr Pankhurst and his wife Rita will be taking part in the celebrations.

The exhibition 'A Journey through Sylvia's Life' and an afternoon of talks with a range of perspectives will offer a new insight into Sylvia Pankhurst, her many campaigns and achievements on the world stage, and her life in Woodford. Organised by the Redbridge Museum with the cooperation of the Museum of London, the Exhibition will display a variety of items spanning Sylvia Pankhurst's long and fascinating life. Her early career as an artist and designer will be represented by examples of her paintings and other work.

'VIP' Dinner

A three-course 'VIP' dinner plus coffee at Prezzo Restaurant in Woodford's elegant historic mansion, Elmhurst, will follow the Bancroft's event. A limited number of tickets will be available and the meal will be timed so those who have tickets for the evening play needn't be rushed.
Tickets £22.95(*) Transport can be provided between Bancroft's and Elmhurst by minibus for an additional charge of £4.
