Who's Counting? Sex, Lies and Global Economics' is a film based on Marilyn Waring's book 'Counting for Nothing'. Marilyn Waring is believed to be the foremost spokesperson for global feminist economics and her ideas offer new avenues for approaching political action. With persistence and wit she has succeeded in drawing attention to the fact that countries' economies do not take into account damage to the environment and completely ignore the unpaid work of women. Are we, women, really Counting for Nothing? Come and find out!
We are particularly excited about our guest speaker / facilitator, Dr Sherilyn MacGregor, an expert on gender and environmental issues from Canada. She is at present Visiting Research Associate at Lancaster University. She will introduce the film and will lead a discussion on feminist ecological economics and women's activism around environmental issues.
Come and share with us a summer afternoon, watch an inspirational film and meet like-minded women. For further information or to secure a place contact Helen on 020 7481 9004 or e-mail: healthadmin@wen.org.uk.
