Playing the Game: Women’s Participation in Sport

This study day explores the history of women's participation in physical education and media representations of female sporting bodies.

Between the Covers: Women’s magazines and their readers

Saturday 22 November, 10am - 4.30pm, £20 / £15 concs

The day looks at the influence of women’s magazines and the changing representations of femininity, examining how readers have been shaped by the magazines they read, from the early 1800s, introducing ideas of femininity and fashion styles to the influential liberation journals of Spare Rib in the 70s.
