Are you concerned about women and race equality in London?
The Greater London Authority (GLA) is consulting on its Race Equality Scheme for 2005 to 2008. The GLA is aware that within race equality matters, issues relating to women tend to be overlooked. For this reason, it is specifically asking for ethnic minority women's views on what the issues are in London and what actions you think are necessary to address these issues.
The WRC will be hosting a focus group for the GLA on Tuesday 3 May, 2.00pm-4.00pm.
This is a unique opportunity for you to influence London's policy on race equality. Your comments and contribution to the development of this key strategy would be highly welcome. We are particularly keen to ensure that issues identified by older, younger, transgender, lesbian, bisexual and disabled ethnic minority women are represented.
Places are strictly limited so please RSVP to Tania Pouwhare at the WRC on 020 7377 0088 or
policy@wrc.org.uk .
re. Consultation on ALG Funding
The Association of London Government (ALG) is currently consulting on recommendations as to how it will fund the voluntary and community fund and what projects/services it will fund. If these changes are implemented it may result in less flexibility for groups to get funding for projects they identify and some groups may not have their funding continued.
It is vital that your organisation responds! If you would like to get involved in the women's voluntary and community sector's response, please contact Tania Pouwhare at the WRC on 020 7377 0088 or policy@wrc.org.uk for more information.
