Women's Resource Centre - Why Women Consultation

Why Women?
'By women, for women' services

Friday 4th November from 1.00pm-3.30pm

WRC will be holding a series of discussion seminars with workers from the women's sector, to discuss and explore women-only space, and by women, for women services.

These sessions aim to:

  • provide space for workers to explore what is the value and challenges of women only or women led services. In an environment that is becoming increasingly gender neutral, we seek to facilitate an engaging session where women can share their expertise, experience and ideas with each other
  • support the articulation of strong, clear arguments about the value of the women's sector, and the importance of women-only and women-led services. These articulations are increasingly vital to funders/policy makers working with no gender analysis as a framework.

WRC are launching their Why Women campaign in March 2006, to highlight the need for a strong and sustainable women's voluntary and community sector. We will use the material that comes out of these sessions as part of our research about the women's sector, in order to write a briefing about the value and importance of women-only and women-led services.
