Combating "Honour" based Violence Forum
- Purpose:
- The Forum is established to bring together key grass root organisations and other relevant agencies to work together in combating all forms of "Honour" based crimes and violence in the UK, principally amongst women from refugee and BME communities
- Activities:
- Key activities for this year:
- To produce a leaflet in different community languages for women to give them information about the services available and the places they need to go to when they are at risk of HBV and DV.
- To produce a leaflet contains information for service providers on how the best to deal with women at risk of HBV
.
- To organise an away day on September 2007 for members of the forum to look at the way forward of the forum.
- To held a demonstration on May 2007 to raise the voice of women at risk of HBV.
- Other Key activities:
- Run workshops and training for statutory agencies on working with women at risk of "honour" based crimes
- Hold meetings with key players such as police, social services and home office
- Give presentations to raise awareness about women's rights and "Honour" based violence.
- Lobby commissioners and decision makers for positive changes in policies and service provision.
- Organise one event each year to bring together women from different communities who are affected by the threat of honour-based crimes.

- Aims of the Forum:
- Influence positive change in policies in favor of women under risk of honour-based crimes
- Influence the government and other funders to support services that are helping women under the risk of Honour based violence
- Raise awareness about women's human rights amongst isolated communities as well as wider society
- Bring perpetrators to justice and put an end to any justification of honour based murders
- Reduce the threat of honour based crimes amongst women and young girls
- Empower women to regain and enjoy their human rights, their dignity and self esteem
