Feminist Activist Forum (FAF)

Purpose:
The Feminist Activist Forum (FAF) is an anti-capitalist, intergenerational feminist network for everyone fighting, or wanting to fight, sexism and the oppressions that intersect with it. We want to move forward feminist activism today in a vibrant, inclusive and radical way; through sharing, educating, networking and action.Feminism is for Everybody. FAF is designed to transform society. Get involved now!
  • FAF Mission:

    • 1. To produce accurate representations of diverse feminist ideas & action, past and present.
      2. To reclaim the histories of feminism and relate them to current experiences and struggles.
      3. To be an inclusive feminist movement of people who support each other through skill sharing, education, teaching and network-building.
      4. To work with institutions, groups, and communities. To train, educate and resource share together with other activist groups.
      5. To have discussions about accessible feminist theory and ethics that will inform and direct the actions of the group.
      6. To make feminism a relevant, active, political movement which will transform institutions and affect social change.
  • FAF Values:

    • 1. We will create a dialogue between different feminists.
      2. We recognise that all forms of oppression intersect.
      3. We will actively challenge and enable people to challenge ableism, ageism, classism, homophobia, racism, sexism, sizeism, speciesism, transphobia, and all forms of discrimination and oppression.
      4. We recognise that capitalism contributes to, perpetuates, and benefits from the above forms of oppression. FAF is anti-capitalist.
      5. We will work in ways that are consensus based, non-hierarchical and accessible.
      6. We will have an ethos of collective responsibility for all our activities.
      7. FAF is non-exclusive and open to anyone who shares these values.

    FAF Focus:
    • Intergenerational feminism – to build a strong movement in the UK we needed to call upon the wisdom, successes and failures of previous generations of feminist activism.
    • Feminist history – we want to learn from history, not turn history into ideology to perpetuate the status quo.
    • Queer feminism – we want FAF to be open to people of all genders. Our definition of 'women' is trans-inclusive.
    • No More Rape Culture – FAF is mobilising around the closures & downsizing of Rape Crisis Centres. We also want to create dialogue about issues surrounding sexuality, relationships, power & consent.
    • Feminists Against Borders – looking at how feminism and no border politics intersect, and how immigration laws are particularly damaging for women.
We use non-hierarchical, consensus-based methods of organising.
    Region or specific community:
UK-wide. With aims to connect and work with feminist activists/groups in Europe and beyond.
    Membership Criteria if any:
