National Women’s Self Defence Association
- Purpose:
- Group Policy
- Our policy is to promote self defence for women of all ages and levels of physical abilities in women only classes. We work from the belief that every woman has the right to defend herself in situations in which she is,or feels threatened.
- We aim to teach in a way that challenges all forms of discrimination.
- The self defence we teach is not just about physical techniques. We increase women’s choices in dealing with threatening or violent situations at home, at work, or in the street, by using a range of physical and non-physical strategies.
- We believe that self esteem is an essential element in a woman’s ability to defend herself effectively. We therefore aim to build confidence and to encourage women to recognise their own skills and experience.
- We recognise that women have a wealth of different experiences and a diversity of needs.
- We aim to promote an environment that encourages equality of acess for black women and other women who experience racist attacks, older women, disabled women, working class women, lesbians and women who have experienced or are experiencing sexual or domestic violence.
