Networks:

North Northumberland Women's Network

Purpose:
  • Sets out to address women's needs and interests in a holistic way and create new connections between social, economic, health, education and cultural / leisure opportunities.
  • It gives women a greater say in issues that affect them locally; and offers very practical developmental support for women's entrepreneurial activity, social or economic.
  • Activities:
  • Networking events
  • Seminars of policy issues
  • Programme of activities including crafts, outdoor pursuits etc
  • Personal development training
  • Mentoring scheme
  • Exchange and trading scheme - skills, services and products using a virtual currency
  • Coastal mile environmental project
  • Transnational project looking at role of rural women's networks
  • Women's Workshop - building our own wood frame building to learn building skills and support women into alternative careers
  • Training
  • HERitage social enterprise offering women tourists mini-breaks in Northumberland run by local women in the network
  • Region or specific community:
    North Northumberland (Berwick and Alnwick Districts), also work in partnership with other women's projects elsewhere in Northumberland
