Networks:

Older Feminist Network

Purpose:
  • To counter the negative stereotypes of older women in society.
  • To challenge the combined ageism/sexism which older women suffer.
  • To provide contacts, mutual support and exchange of ideas and information.
  • To mobilise the skills and experience of older women in campaigning for a better deal.
  • Activities:
  • We meet monthly in London on the second Saturday of the month at Millman Street Community Centre, 50 Millman Street, London, WC1 - nearest tubes Russell Square and Kings Cross, with speakers, workshops and shared lunch.
  • We write to MPs and government departments on feminist subjects and lend support to other organisations demos and rallies.
  • We keep in touch with our more distant members through our bi-monthly newsletter.
  • Region or specific community:
    London based but have corresponding members throughout UK with a few in Europe, North America and Japan.
    Membership Criteria if any:
    Must be female but "Older" is self defining.
    Membership Fee if any:
    No fee as such but networkers who attend the London monthly meeting are asked to pay £3 (or what they can afford) per head to pay for the rental of the venue.
