POWER Camp National / Filles d’action

Purpose:
Canadian network for girls’ and young women’s empowerment and well-being.
  • to support local girls’ initiatives by fostering exchanges of resources, info and inspiration
  • to increase understanding of issues facing girls and young women among members, media, stakeholders, policy makers and the public
  • to promote and celebrate the work of girls and young women to change the world!
  • Activities:
  • annual national retreat for network members (action planning, capacity building, learning across communities, etc)
  • annual girls’ day of action on Feb. 14 (girls take action in communities on issues that concern them)
  • creation of resources (zines for young women on different aspects of civic engagement; programming resources for people facilitating girls’ programs; collecting research on girls and young women and the benefits of all-girls initiatives)
  • fostering regional or issue-specific collaborations (e.g. francophone organizations, arctic communities, racialised communities)

    Membership Criteria if any:
    To be an individual or organization working with all-girls groups, and to share PCN’s inclusive approach that takes into account intersecting issues in girls’ lives and commits to reducing oppressions through our work.
