Richmond Council Women’s Network
- Purpose:
- The Women’s Network at Richmond Council is one of 4 staff support groups and all women staff are members. We have a planning group of volunteers which consists of staff across all Council departments and we aim to help to fulfil the netowrk’s objectives:
- To reflect the Council organisation's objectives and needs;
- To respond to women's professional, managerial and individual needs;
- To act as a forum for sharing information both departmentally and organisationally; and
- To improve service delivery by developing effective communication between network members.
- We have a small budget allocated each year to fund special events and seminars throughout the year to support these objectives.
- The Network now contributes through consultation to strategic developments which ensures the Council fulfils its commitment as an equal opportunities employer.
- We also organise social events where women can meet in a warm and friendly environment to network with other women across the Council.
- Activities:
- In the last few months we have organised a “Be The Best You Can Be” initiave being a series of seminars around image, first impressions outer and inner confidence. A Summer picnic for Breakthough breast cancer charity.
- We are part of the consultation process for any new HR policies being proposed.
- We are also doing a community event for women who want to return to the workplace. We are using our own HR resources as well as community resources – image consultant local job centre etc.
