Networks:

Southwark Mind Women's Forum.

Purpose:
  • The Women's Forum has met monthly for the past five years, providing a vegetarian lunch and a free complementary therapist works alongside the group.
  • The group is run by and is made up of women who have used psychiatric services and who have experienced mental health problems.
  • The Forum campaigns to improve women's experience of the psychiatric system in Southwark. Since February 2004 there are no longer any missed acute psychiatric wards in Southwark.
  • The last part of the Women's Forum is an open space for women to discuss difficult issues in a safe and supported space.
  • Activities:
    Summer Outing to an area outside London, visits to art galleries featuring women artists and a December meal.
