Networks:

UK Feminist Action

Purpose:
UKFA was established in November 2002 to "provide a network and a central place for UK feminists of all ages, backgrounds and political affiliations to share news about feminist activism, activities, groups, events, protests and campaigns, to support each other, to ask for advice and help and ultimately to encourage feminist activism in the UK."
Activities:
  • The list is set up as a resource for feminists to alert each other to feminist activism and action that is currently going on.
  • Another function is that it has helped individual feminists to find other feminists or feminist groups in their area (with any e-mails in response to the initial request sent off-list to ensure the list remains efficient).
  • There are no specific activities that UKFA itself is directly involved in. It simply pulls together a variety of feminists by acting as a noticeboard for feminist activity going on around the country.
  • Obviously, this noticeboard is not exhaustive but the group's 4 year+ existence and growing membership means it plays an important role within the third wave movement.
  • Region or specific community:
    UK
    Membership Criteria if any:
Members must have read the charter (i.e they must be aware that the list is a resource and not a discussion list).
    Membership Fee if any:
    None
