West London Refugee Women’s Forum
- Purpose:
- West London Refugee Women’s Forum (WLRWF) works with women for women. The Forum was set up with three key aims:
- To promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of women and children refugees in the London Boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Brent, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Harrow and Ealing including the relief of poverty, the advancement of education and the promotion of good citizenship.
- To promote equality of opportunity and the elimination of unfair discrimination on grounds of race.
- To improve the efficiency and effectiveness of charities and to promote the efficient application of resources for charitable purposes by non-charitable institutions particularly such charities and purposes for refugee women and children in the area of benefit by providing advice, information, training and support for capacity building.
- Activities:
- WLRWF as a Forum works cooperatively with its member groups to support activities for refugee women and welcomes new members and volunteers.
- Diverse member groups include
- Arab Group in Hounslow and Suburbs,
- Iraqi Council for Integrated Community in Britain (ICIC),
- Iraqi Welfare Association,
- Refugees into Jobs (RiJ),
- Tamil Middlesex Academy,
- Women’s Aid Harrow,
- Zimbabwe Women’s Network.
- Activities include educational projects, training, cultural activities and networking, meetings to discuss issues that affect refugee women in West London, trips etc
