Forward : Executive Director honoured in Queen's birthday list
FORWARD Executive Director, Naana Otoo-Oyortey, has been awarded an MBE for her services to Human Rights issues for Women in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours list.
Commenting on the award, Naana Otoo-Oyortey said:
"I am delighted to receive this honour. This award gives public recognition to the work and achievements of FORWARD in promoting the human rights of African girls and women. It is particularly fitting that this award comes as FORWARD celebrates its 25 years of groundbreaking and catalytic role in the campaign against female genital mutilation (FGM) and child and forced marriage. However, we must not be complacent since women and girls particularly poor and vulnerable women continue to bear disproportionately the burden of social and cultural injustice."
