The Community Fund and the New Opportunities Fund are being merged into the Big Lottery Fund. The Big Lottery Fund will have the same role as the Community Fund but it will also have the ability to fund large-scale regeneration projects of the type previously funded by the Millennium Commission.
According to the Chair of the Big Lottery Fund, the application process for organisations should be simplified and there should be less duplication of projects.
Presently, the Big Lottery Fund is running a consultative process to ascertain what shape the Big Lottery Fund should take.
The Community Fund/Big Lottery Fund is a significant funder of women's groups and projects. It is important that you have your say about how the Big Lottery Fund operates and what it will fund!
The Women's Resource Centre is holding a half-day event to discuss how we would like to see the Big Lottery Fund operating and what it funds and to explore what the change will mean to us in the women's voluntary and community sector.
