WRC Policy Forum : Recruitment and Training
WRC Policy Forum Recruitment
Your organisation can apply to join the Policy Forum as an Attending Member or an E-Contact Member. If you join as an E-Contact Member, you will receive the papers and work of the Policy Forum via email. You will also be able to feed in your policy priorities and ideas to the Policy Forum via WRC. An Attending Member would need to be able to commit to attending up to 5 meetings per year, communicating regularly between meetings, and contributing to some of the work of the Policy Forum. We're keen to ensure grassroots groups are not excluded because of lack of capacity, so please do contact us to discuss the expected workload.
The WRC Policy Forum, identifies policy issues that impact upon women in London and the women's voluntary and community sector and develops proactive strategies for policy change. The Policy Forum, made up of WRC members and resourced and administered by WRC, signals a shift from traditional responses to Government consultations.
You don't have to have specific policy knowledge to join the Forum. We know that women's groups work with some of the most marginalised women and with issues of discrimination and human rights abuses daily. We know that there is an incredible amount of knowledge and expertise held by women's groups and we think this Forum can be a way of 'tapping into' that valuable expertise. We are particularly interested in influencing and challenging policy that impacts upon women, and the women's sector in London, from the ground up. We will ensure there is a mix of policy and other expertise amongst Policy Forum members. Please contact Darlene@wrc.org.uk for more information.

WRC Policy Capacity Building Training
Would you like to know more about how to feed your expertise into policy? Do you have expertise to share with the women's sector?
The WRC Policy Forum has highlighted the need for increasing the women's sectors' involvement in public policy development. As a result, WRC are currently planning a series of training days on policy for the women's sector:
- what is policy
- how to build a campaign
- tips on responding to consultations
- which bodies do what
- who to contact
- how to work together with other groups.
We will look at an introduction to policy, and explore policy mechanisms at local, regional and national levels.
- We are interested to hear from groups who want to input into the development of these training days.
- You might want to tell us what you would most want to know about policy, or you might have expertise in a certain area and be interested in speaking or running a workshop.
- Your organisation might have experience of successful lobbying for change, and might want to present a case-study of what your campaign was, what impact it made, and how you monitored this.
- If you are interested in feeding in your ideas to these policy training days, please contact Darlene@wrc.org.uk
