- Refuge is a growing charity offering emergency accommodation and advocacy, emotional and practical support to women and children. We are currently looking to recruit a committed Female* staff member to join our team.
- You will deliver a high quality professional service to abused women living in our refuges based in the East Sussex area at Lewes, Eastbourne, Wealden and Hastings. The post will be based at one of the locations but you will be required to work from any of the houses depending on the needs of the services.
- You will provide invaluable practical and emotional support. Your role will include providing advocacy and support around welfare, housing and legal entitlements, ensuring smooth day-to-day running of the refuge, empowering women to take control of the lives, and supporting them to move on to safe and permanent accommodation.
- You will have excellent casework skills, good written and verbal communication skills, clear professional boundaries and be a proactive team player. You must have a minimum of two years' experience of providing support to women and knowledge of current welfare rights/civil/criminal legislation relating to domestic violence. A recognised social work/counselling /housing qualification would be desirable.
- Please note that the use of a car would be desirable given the nature of the work, and that you will be required to work as part of an on-call rota.
