- Refuge is a growing charity offering emergency accommodation and advocacy, emotional and practical support to women and children. We are looking to recruit a new Female* staff member to join our team in this exciting new development in North Shropshire.
- As a refuge worker you will provide invaluable advocacy, practical and emotional support to women who have fled domestic violence. Your role will include providing advocacy and support around welfare, housing and legal entitlements, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the refuge, empowering women to take control of their lives, and supporting them to move on to safe and permanent accommodation.
- You will have excellent casework skills, good written and verbal communication skills, clear professional boundaries and be a proactive team player. You must have a minimum of two years' experience of providing support to women and up-to-date knowledge of current welfare rights and civil/criminal legislation relating to domestic violence. A recognised social work/counselling/housing qualification would be desirable.
- Please note, the public transport links to the project are limited so a current driver's licence and use of a car would be useful although not essential.
- You will be required to work as part of an on-call rota.
