Description:
Job Summary:
To work in tandem with the Health Co-ordinator, in line with the aims and objectives of the project, to support local groups and contacts and implement and monitor this aspect of the project. Some travel and evening work. Because a large part of the work will be with female volunteers including participants and will involve discussing women's health issues in connection with the environment, it is essential that the post holder is a woman. Section 7(2)(e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 applies.
KeyTasks:
  • Experience of project or campaign work.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to present information in both a written and verbal format to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Experience of working with community groups and/or the voluntary sector and volunteers.
  • Experience of setting targets and working to agreed deadlines.
  • Experience of facilitating diverse groups of women.
  • Some experience of writing printed material.
  • Some knowledge of the links between environment and health.
    Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent organisational and motivating skills.
  • Good communication skills including the ability to disseminate information verbally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate and able to use a database, word processing and e-mail packages.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of the range of issues covered by the project within a short period of time.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to relate sympathetically to women on health and personal matters.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality on women's health and personal matters.
